A couple of years ago, I was invited to paint outdoors in front of an audience. It was unfamiliar to step out of my studio — without headphones, without my usual rhythm. But the years of practice took over. In this work, I chose to express my mid-aged state through autumn: a controlled surge of passion, where intensity rises but remains contained, where emotion and restraint find balance.
It holds presence quietly, yet invites conversation without force. Viewers often pause, drawn into questions about how something can feel both eruptive and composed. Rooted in a lived moment and shaped by a consistent way of seeing, it feels internally resolved. Over time, its tension deepens, becoming something to speak of — not for quick answers, but for the layered meaning that reveals more the longer one stays.
